Strange Interlude (Lily on harp, Simon on cello and special guest composer and performer Daniel Lemer) kicks off the new year with some exciting new music that combines Eastern and Western classical traditions. Pieces on this program range from the music of Ravi Shankar which is very much a synthesis of Western and Indian styles to the music of Jacques Charpentier which is a Western take on an Carnatic classical style. The concert will include the premiere of a new work written for Strange Interlude by Daniel Lemer, who incorporates aspects of Indonesian gamelan music into a work for harp and cello.
